Drew Stone

Drew Stone 30 of Florissant. Drew Stone - His "Dash". Drew Anthony Stone was 30 when he fought with his last breath to stay here to see over his son Wyatt. His last words were "Wy, Wy". Drew was born February 12, 1987 and attended Hazelwood Central High School. He was friends with one and all and didn't fall into any particular crowd. He did have his close friends but he basically loved everybody he met and never had an unkind word to say. He spent his days full of joy and happiness and getting the most from every day he could. He knew from an early age that his health was not the best, but he did not let that stop him from living as full of a life as possible. Drew is survived by his son Wyatt, age 2, his mother Tamara A. Tesson (Lowell Puhlmann-fiance), father Gregory Stone, and brothers Brett Stone and Zachary Stone (Amy Eschbacher - fiance) and nephew Brayden. Drew's Grandparents Chester and Edith Tesson, Patricia (and the late) Don Stone were very supportive in Drews lifelong battle with cancer and GVHD. Drew is also survived by his dog he had for many years - a Basset Hound named Betsy. We are very grateful for the support of family and friends and cannot say enough how much it meant to him. His company and friends at United Granite and Marble (UGM) were huge supporters of Drew until the end. His countless friends always checked up on him and they always picked up where they left off no matter how much time went by in between. The remarkable thing about Drew was he never complained, he was quick to forgive, and he loved everyone he met. It didn't matter what your status was. You were a friend. He made friends everywhere he went and he always knew people wherever he went. His grandfather Chester was a huge mentor to him. They were always fixing on his vehicles or building or unbuilding something. There was a deep bond there that only the two of them understood. Drew's regret is leaving his 2-year-old son Wyatt behind. His large extended family of brothers, aunts and uncles, grandparents and of course his friends are all invited to participate in a video in which they can tell stories of Wyatt's father, talk about their feelings of his father, or give Wyatt advice in growing up through the years. Drew is counting on us to help keep an eye on Wyatt and make sure he grows up to be a fine young man that remembers the real meaning of life and shows gratitude for it every day. There really are no adequate words to describe Drew and how unique he was. I'm sure he would tell you that he has no regrets on how he lived his life but he is disappointed that his body gave out on him. His wise words to you if you asked would be "to remember to live every day as if it were your last". Don't wait to tell those close to you how important they are. Don't waste time on anger and don't go to bed mad. Everything is going to blow over and everything is going to be awesome. Drew's last wish would be that everyone makes the best of what we have, enjoy what we have been blessed with here on earth, cherish it and take care of it. He would sincerely thank each and every individual for thinking of him at this time. February 12, 1987 - October 11, 2017. See the dash in the middle? Such a small thing, right? But it represents what he did with his life in between those dates. He was wise beyond his years. He didn't complain about the cards he was dealt. He made the best of it. He decided to be happy and not be angry about his condition. He decided to be grateful for every day he woke up and could spend more time spreading his joy. For Drew, he lived the "dash". The Dash (by Linda Ellis) I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning...to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth and now only those who loved her know what that little line was worth. For it matters not, how much we own, the cars...the house...the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard; are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real and always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile.... remembering that this special dash might only last a little while. So when your eulogy is being read with your life's actions to rehash, would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash?
