Alice Leonard

Alice Leonard, Age 93 of St. Louis, MO was born August 18, 1919 in Monroe, Louisiana, to the union of John and Alice Torrence. She was the youngest daughter of eight. Four brothers: Ernest, Roosevelt, Booker and James; and three sisters: Delia, Belle and Clotee. All preceded her in death. After relocating to Canton, Mississippi she completed her formal education. She professed her hope in Christ as her Lord and Savior and began her walk with the Lord. Alice was united in Holy Matrimony to Woodbury Leonard and the family again relocated to St. Louis, Missouri. The Mother of five: Ocie, Gertrude, Michael, Dennis and Robert (“Bobby”), Alice joined her life with the Morning Star M.B. Church, under the pastoral teaching of Reverend Archie Pryor. She loved her church and every Sunday found her in service worshipping with her children, a fellowship of over 50 years. She loved the Lord with her whole being and was already to witness of His goodness, until her health began to fail. Her husband, her daughter, Ocie and son, Bobby preceded her in death. Alice was a resident of The Pillars of North County where she was cared for with respect and kindness always under the watchful eye of her daughter Gertrude, who visited her daily, made sure she ate, was clean, had her hair done and personally took on the challenge of doing her laundry, making sure she wanted for nothing. Family members were there for backup to care for her including her grandchildren Phyllis; Chantee; and Michelle, as well as her niece, Deloris. She was visited by her church family several times throughout the year, always bringing her a token or plant and offering their prayers as well. Alice departed this life for her heavenly reward on June 4, 2013, in Room 725 at Christian Hospital NE, where the Lord exchange the hand of her daughter Gertrude for His at 6:30 p.m. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted daughter, Gertrude; her loving sons; Michael and Dennis; her devoted grandchildren: Phyllis, Chantee, Michelle, Lanise, Dennis, Jr., and Maurice; as well as her Morning Star Church Family, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. ...she will be missed!!
