Caroline June Layton (nee Keen) Age 83 of Florissant, Missouri. Loving Wife of the late Allen Layton (1987), Beloved Mother to the late Daniel (Linda) and the late Michael and Thomas and Jean. Dear grandmother to Ken (Jolene), Sean, Brandon (Leann), Allen, Christopher and Kaitlyn. Great grandmother to Lewis and Avery. Caroline J. Layton passed away after 83 wonderful years on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at her home in Florissant, MO. Caroline was born March 18, 1937 in the city of Gillespie, IL to Oliver Keen and Vivian Hayes. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1954 where she fell in love with the love of her life, Allen D. Layton (d. 1987). They ran off and got married on July 12, 1955. They started their family in 1956 with the birth of their oldest son, Daniel Robert. Then in 1958, Michael Allen was born. After the birth of their youngest son, Thomas Dale in 1960, they moved to the suburbs in Florissant, MO. There she became the best stay at home mom anyone could ask for. She was involved in everything Al and the boys did. Then in 1969, they got news that she was pregnant again and in October of 1970, Carol and Al’s only daughter, Jean Marie was born. Above all else, Carol’s family and extended family meant the world to her. She enjoyed the holidays and loved having family and friends over to celebrate. She was well known for her homemade stuffing. She will be missed and may not physically be with us during the holidays but we know she will be with us in our hearts and spirit. She traveled with Al all over the country, their favorite spots being Hawaii, Las Vegas, Mexico and Europe. She painted ceramics for years, made ornaments for her children’s classes every year, many of which still hang on Christmas trees all over. She loved the casino, Sunday brunches at Ameristar with the family, and loved cheering on her St. Louis Blues and Cardinals. She was a woman of great faith, a friend to all, and will be greatly missed. The family ask in lieu of flowers Donations may be made to: American Cancer Society or American Lung Association. Limited visitation will be up to 10 persons total at a time on Thursday from 4pm-6pm. Please govern accordingly to allow others to pay their respects responsibly under the current pandemic. Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 9, 2020 10am at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
