Karen B. Holland

Karen Bridgett Holland was born on April 15, 1958, in Quantico, Virginia, to Gladys Cunningham of Brunswick, Georgia, and Vernon Cunningham of St. Louis, Missouri. She passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, loyalty, and countless memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. Karen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. As part of a military family and one of eight children, she spent much of her childhood moving from place to place, experiences that helped shape the strength and resilience that would carry her throughout life. Karen graduated from University City High School in University City, Missouri, in 1976. In 1979, she proudly joined the United States Army. While stationed at Fort Bragg, she met Darryl Holland, and together they shared twenty years of marriage and raised a family. Karen was stationed in Germany from 1981 to 1984 and later continued her service in the United States Army Reserve from 1990 to 1994, where she served as a forensic illustrator. Her years of military service reflected her intelligence, creativity, and strong sense of independence. Karen was known for her quick wit, her honesty, and her ability to tell it like it was. Funny, strong-willed, and unapologetically herself, she had a way of making people laugh while always keeping things real. She loved music, enjoyed watching true crime television, and treasured spending time with family, especially her sisters and grandchildren. Though their marriage eventually ended, Karen helped care for Darryl during the final years of his life before his passing in 2018, a testament to her loyalty. Once Karen loved you, she loved you forever. That love extended beyond Darryl, as she remained close to his sisters, whom she loved dearly and considered family until the end of her life. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Cunningham and Vernon Cunningham; her former husband, Darryl Holland; and her brothers, Kenneth Cunningham and Vernon Bruce Cunningham. Karen leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kevin Cunningham, Kiesha and Cameron Henderson, Kimber Holland, and Darryl Anthony Holland Jr.; her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Siburt, Jaylin Bourn, Mirasia Henderson, and Dream Riley; her siblings, Edna Washington, Vincent Cunningham, Edward Cunningham, Gladys Cunningham, and Joseph Cunningham; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Karen will be remembered for her strength, her sense of humor, and the unwavering loyalty she showed to the people she loved.
