Larry F. LeCompte

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Larry Ferdinand LeCompte completed his earthly journey and peacefully transitioned to rest in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Larry was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 22, 1942, to Ferdinand LeCompte and Lorraine Elaine Bess. Larry had two siblings, Ferdinand and Sandra. Larry was preceded in death by both parents and Sandra. Larry was a very generous and intelligent man. He lived by a core set of values that will continue to be a part of our memories of him: ● Larry loved God. He was a follower of Jesus Christ. His favorite Bible verses were 2 Timothy 4:7 and Jude 24-25. These verses held great significance throughout Larry’s life. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” ● Larry loved his wife, Renita. Larry and Renita met at church in 1991, and they were married in 1997. For 29 years, they shared a full and abundant life together, rooted in unconditional love, and they were best friends. Larry and Renita were world travelers, journeying together through 5 continents and more than 25 countries. Their “just because” vacations included Paris, London, Dubai, Czech Republic, Morocco, Peru, Thailand, Japan, and exploring The Greek Island in Greece. Some of their most cherished travel memories are walking the Holy Land, cruising on the Nile River to explore ancient Egyptian temples, pyramids, and museums, climbing the Great Wall of China, and cruising on the Mediterranean Sea. Whether they were shopping in Spain, receiving custom-made clothes in Hong Kong, taking bus tours through Switzerland and Italy, exploring the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, or just simply relaxing in Hawaii, they treasured every moment. ● Larry loved to explore different opportunities and take on new challenges. In fact, he created many of his own opportunities as Larry was an entrepreneur at heart with a great mind for business success. He was the owner/operator of A National/LeCompte Limousine Service for more than 35 years. His motto was “When only the very best is good enough,” and he was active in many other business endeavors: • 2001-2026: Owner/operator of All Travel & Tours Travel Agency. His motto was “We go the extra mile just for you.” Member of the following: American Society of Travel Advisory (ASTA), National Association of Commissioned Travel Agents (NACTA), Outside Sales Support Network (OSSN) and Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) worldwide travel organization. • Founding member and President of the Limousine Association of Greater St. Louis (1987) and founding member and served as Vice President of the National Limousine Association. • 1982-1984: Owner/operator Radford pre-arrangement company. • 1972-1979: Owner/operator of Clark and Mobil service stations. Larry possessed a genuine gift for connecting with people and sharing a wide range of wisdom on many topics. He had a knack for engaging people in thoughtful conversations from various walks of life. From 1975-2025, Larry was Past President of the Comprehensive Mental Health Center of St. Clair County and served as the Housing Chairman; additionally, Larry was First Vice President of the St. Clair-Madison Urban League from 1974-1978. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. We are thankful for Larry’s service to our country. He was a decorated sergeant, serving almost 11 years in the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Medical Service Specialist. He bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. • Entered Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in June 1960 and completed the training in October 1960. Larry was selected to receive the following training: • Completed specialized Hospitalman training course in 1964. • Completed specialized Aeromedical Evacuation Tech training in 1966. • Graduated from Air Force Sea Survival School in 1967. • Completed Hospital Corpsman training course in 1967. Larry earned notable service medals: • National Defense Service Medal for his service during Vietnam. • Vietnam Service Medal for his service in Vietnam. • Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster for his dedicated service. • Air Force Longevity Service Award with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. Larry leaves cherished memories and is survived by his wife, Renita; son, Larry LeCompte Jr; daughter, Jamie Johnson; two grandchildren, Diamond and Magnus; brother, Ferdinand LeCompte (Maureen); nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family prefers "NO FLOWERS''
