Mary Frances Browning

Mary Frances Browning Age 90 of St. Louis, MO. Mother Mary Frances Browning was the fifth child of six siblings born to Marion and Arvilla Williams on May 18, 1930, in Edmondson, Arkansas. At the age of three, the family moved to Blytheville, Arkansas. She attended elementary school there and the St. Louis Public School System at Charles Sumner High School. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 7 and united with Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R.G. Gates. She remained a faithful member there and attended Sunday School, BYPU and was a member of the children’s choir. The family relocated to St. Louis, MO and upon arrival she joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the pasturage of Rev. James Cook. Her grandparents, parents, brothers, and sister preceded her in Eternal Life with Jesus. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Gerald Lee Harris and to this union three beautiful children were born, Darryl, Karen Rene’ and Gerald Lamont. Her husband Gerald, and son, Darryl, preceded her in Eternal Life with Jesus. She later united in Holy Matrimony to Rev. Elijah Browning on February 11, 1965 and to this union was added two additional children to the family, Doris, and Lorenzo. Rev. Elijah and Lorenzo Browning preceded her in Eternal Life with Jesus. In 1965 she became a member of Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Earl E. Nance, Sr. and remained faithful under the leadership of Rev. Earl E. Nance, Jr. She was a Sunday School Teacher, a Deaconess and served as a faithful member of the Inspirational Chorus, Nance Choraliers, Willing Workers and served as a Spiritual Advisor to the Crusaders. She served as a member of the Board of Mothers for many years under the guidance of Mother Alberta Mitchell. Pastor Earl E. Nance, Sr. appointed her President of the Board of Mothers at the age of thirty-five where she served faithfully. She leaves to rejoice in her absence from the “Body” to be with the Lord, her daughter, Karen Rene’ (Darryl) Smith, Gerald Lamont (Clintonia) Harris, Doris (Larry) Wright. And leaving also, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, spiritual children, friends, and the Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church Family.
