Pearleatha Gatewood Dave

Pearleatha Gatewood-Dave, 83, of St Louis, Missouri, passed Sunday, July 12, 2020. Pearleatha, fondly known as Pearl, was born to the union of Edward (Eddie) and Minerva Gatewood on March 2, 1937. She was the second child within a family of seven, which included one brother and five sisters. Both parents, 3 sisters and brother, preceded her in death. Pearl was educated in Missouri, graduating from Wheatley High School in 1956. She attended Lincoln University and transitioned into a career with the St. Louis Hospital Administrative System, for Outpatients. Starting at Missouri Baptist Hospital, working for several years and joining Depaul Hospital where she enjoyed a long, successful career that would span over 4 decades. After retiring from DePaul Hospital she embarked on a new path and dedicated the remainder of her life as a Professional Service Manager at Joyland Day Care, Sunshine Daycare and DeBritt Catering complex. She flourished in this role and enjoyed each workday to the fullest. Pearl was united in Holy Matrimony to her beloved husband, Luther Dave. She was a devoted loving wife for 55 years and mother of two children Gregory (Sandy) Gatewood and Angela Lewis. Pearl was the Pillar of her entire family; reliable, supportive, warm and inviting. She was the main connector to each family member and successfully organized and hosted holiday meals, gatherings and family outings. She was a beautiful person inside and out and will be remembered as her family’s “Treasure”. A true homemaker, she loved all things for the home; making it comfortable, up to date and welcoming for her family and guests, invited and uninvited. All were welcome! Pearl was a faithful dedicated member of Victory Christian Outreach Church for many years. She was so loved by her co-laborers in the Gospel. Ms. Pearl's labor for the Lord, in the church, didn't get missed by anyone. She was always putting her hands to work to help wherever and whenever she could. She served as a Deaconess and devoted many years to comforting and caring for other families in the church. Some of the many ministries she served in were: Pastors Aid, Registration, Hospitality, Bulk Mail, Benevolence and was a worker during outreach events. If you needed a partner to help you serve in the church... "Ms. Pearl had your back!" She effortlessly put a smile on everyone she encountered. She was a pillar of our church and she was and will forever be Apostle Doris’ best friend and safe place. She leaves to cherish her memories: son Gregory Gatewood (Tina), daughter Angela Lewis (Joe), 2 sisters: Williemenue Powell and Salina Ward, 2 brother-n-laws Pastor Dr. Lee Rice and Nathaniel Dave; 7 grandchildren: Dinetra Moore, Davin Van Eyken, Navarro Moore, Kielahn Newman, Jasmine Gatewood, Ariel Lewis and Paij Jones; 7 Great Grandchildren: Zioni Moore, Zachariah Moore, Kennedy Newman, Malia Moore, Mariah Moore, Davion Moore, Saniah Perez and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family and friends. ***You will be missed and cherished by all*** ***She walked in beauty*** ***She touched everyone with special love and kindness***
