Lodie Mae Vaughn

October 6, 1944 - February 10, 2021

Lodie was born Lola Mae Edwards on October 6, 1944 in St. Louis County Missouri to William “Bill” Miller and Mary Alice Thomas. She was raised by her Grandparents, Ernest and Virginia (Sanders) Edwards. Lodie was the eldest of four children. Her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nephews, the absolute love of her life and devoted husband of more than 46 years and two beautiful Great Grandchildren, Anniyah and Cairo all preceded her in death. Lodie received a Catholic education up until high school. She attended Sumner High School in the St. Louis Public School System. She married Roland Oglesby and to this union, they were blessed with four beautiful children. In the 1960s, she met the love of her life, Fred Vaughn. To this union, she was blessed with two more beautiful children. Lodie worked hard providing for her family. Some of her jobs include Malcolm Bliss Mental Health Center, Barnes Hospital, Colonial Bakery, St. Nicholas Rectory, Daughters of Charity, Florissant Nursing Center, Shell Gas Station and Bolden’s Bar back in the day prior to retiring and raising her Grandchildren. Lodie truly loved her family. She was bold, outspoken and fun loving. She instilled a strong work ethic, guidance, advice, love and support to everyone she met. No one was a stranger and she touched everyone’s lives in a unique way. She provided food and shelter to many and was known in the neighborhood as Moma Vaughn. She loved to cook, dance, travel, going to the casino, picnics and having parties. She loved Bingo, Pokeno and most importantly family time. On Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 with her family by her side, she made her heavenly transition. Lodie leaves to cherish her memory six wonderful children, Marian (Edwards) Johnson, Perron (Rose) Oglesby, Sidney Oglesby, Kimberly Oglesby, Carla (Samuel) Hudson and Marlene Vaughn; Three Siblings, Robert Luster (Janie who preceded her in death), Freddie (Karen) Luster and Dorothy (Oscar) Weston; Fourteen Grandchildren: Ellery Jr., Perron Jr., Anthony, Romel Jr., Dainielle, Liana, Brittinni, Ashley, Nyla, Jalen, Joshua, Jasmine, Dominique, and Destinee; Twenty Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
