Rosemary M. Fields Age 102 of Florissant, MO. Rosemary M. Fields passed away after 102 wonderful years on Monday, September 7, 2020, at Creve Coeur Assisted Living. Born in St. Louis on June 14 during the pandemic of 1918 to Aloysius and Nora (Seidl) McCann, she was preceded in death by her brother Michael (1942). She graduated from Beaumont High School, earned a bachelor degree from Harris Teachers College (now Harris Stowe) and began teaching in the St. Louis Public Schools in 1940. She married the love of her life, Carlyle C. Fields (d. 2003) on January 1, 1942. After starting her family, she resumed her teaching career in 1953 and retired from the St. Louis Public Schools in 1980. Always on the go, she volunteered as librarian St. Martin De Porres School for several years, and then for nearly 30 years as an aide at Akerman School, for which she received the Ambassador Award from Special School District in 2004. She was a voracious reader, a fan of the Muny and musical theater, an avid bowler, an enthusiastic football fan, and enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, swimming and aquasizing well into her nineties. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, exploring destinations coast to coast in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, and farther away in Europe, Greece, Morocco, Australia and New Zealand. Above all else, she loved her large, extended family, for whom she frequently hosted holiday gatherings. Besides her children, Mary Ann Otto, Carl (Beverly) Fields and Jean Fox, she is survived by grandchildren Cathy (Steve) Morlock, Joan (David) Garrett, Michael (Shirley) Otto, and Danny (Tia) Otto; Curt Fox, David (Jennifer) Fox and Angie (Todd) Abel; Paul (LeChele Mack) Fields and Maria Fields. She also leaves 11 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. She was a loving mom and grandparent, a friend to many and loved by all. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 12, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at St. Ferdinand Church in Florissant, Missouri, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Louis or to the Delta Gamma Center for Children (http://dgckids.org/support).
