Shirley Barrett

Shirley Glenn Barrett (nee Farrar) passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the age of 94. Shirley was born on November 10, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri and is the daughter of the late Elmer and Ethel Farrar, and sister of Geraldine Thornton and Elmer Farrar Jr. She is the beloved wife of 74 years to the late William Patrick Barrett Sr. and is the loving mother of Patti (Mike Yorg), Nancy (the late Brian Laspe), Teri Barrett (Dan Roberts), and William (Susan) Barrett. Adored Grandmother of 9, Great-Grandmother of 14, and has one great-great grandson on the way. Shirley had a special bond with her late sister, Geraldine Thornton, who was her best friend and is the beloved Aunt of her 9 children; Dan (Patty), Mary Ann (Jerry Paule), Larry (Linda), the late Michael (Trish), Jimmy (Jackie), Bobby, Shawn (Kathy), Brian/GoGo, (Donna), Bridget (Kenny Haniford); Great-Aunt, Great-Great Aunt, and adored friend of many. She was known for her infectious smile, genuine kindness, and her generous soul. Shirley worked at the University of Missouri STL bookstore, had a passion for painting, crafting, baking, and taking vacations with her family. Most importantly, she absolutely adored her loved ones and treasured spending quality time with them. She is deeply loved by so many and her presence was a true blessing to all who met her.
