Delores E. Clay

On Monday, August 12, 2024, at 9:36 am, the soul of Delores E. Clay joined her heavenly father. Delores was born to the late Theodore, Sr. and Geneva Cothran on April 5, 1938. Delores was the youngest of seven children. Delores received the Holy Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Kinloch, Missouri. She received her Last Rites at Christian Northeast Hospital in Florissant, Missouri. Delores received her elementary education at Holy Angels Catholic School, and she graduated Laboure’ High School in 1956. She then received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Fontbonne University. Delores dedicated 38 years of her life to teaching elementary school and special education (Holy Ghost, Berkley MO & Holy Angels, Kinloch MO), touching countless lives with her passion and commitment to education. Delores was united in Holy Matrimony with Alan B. Clay Sr on February 15, 1958. To this union three sons Alan Clay Jr, Kenneth Clay, and Lawrence Clay were born. Delores was a fourth-degree member of the Knights and Ladies of Saint Peter Claver. She served on many parish, school, and community organizations. Delores was an avid world traveler, having explored the wonders of Egypt, Israel, and Italy and had the honor of meeting Pope John Paul II. Delores was a loving, caring, and self-less individual, known for her patience and fun-loving spirit. She had a deep passion for teaching children and cherished meeting new people. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Delores also had a great love for arts and crafts, which she shared with everyone around her. With a bright mind, she enjoyed solving sudokus, cryptograms, and crossword puzzles, always eager to challenge herself. Delores leaves behind her beloved husband, Alan Clay Sr., and her cherished sons, Alan (Shanel) Clay Jr., Kenneth Clay, Lawrence (Vanecia) Clay. She was a proud grandmother to Avianne Clay, Corey Clay, Chelsea (Jennifer) Devonshire-Clay, Alan Clay III, Kenneth Clay, Tristen Clay, Lawrence Clay, Sydney Clay, and Indigo Griffith and a doting great-grandmother to Jace Cruise and Alaïa Liggans. Delores was also a loving sister, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
