Gregory L. Hudspeth

Gregory Lee “Greg” Hudspeth of High Ridge, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 14. He was 67 years young. He was born August 1, 1956 in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Samuell Hudspeth and Peggy Hudspeth (Blossom). He was raised in Tucson, Arizona and upon high school graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard where he received an honorable discharge after serving five years. On April 30, 1983, he married Sharon Johnson in Denver, Colorado. They enjoyed 41 years of marriage and raised two beautiful daughters, Alex Ocena and Evon Ourani. He was so excited to welcome men into the family through their marriages to, Joseph Thompson and Christopher Edgecomb. Then came the grandpups, Bruce, Lulu, Eevee and Jack, whom he absolutely adored. However, on January 4, 2023, he was so full of joy when the apple of his eye, Elle Ourania Thompson was born. He was a wonderful grandfather who loved spending hours just playing with her. He was so very proud of his whole family. Greg took great pride in his 39 year career with the Federal Aviation Administration. It took him from Los Angeles, California as a technician to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as an instructor and he retired in Bangor, Maine as an Environmental Systems Specialist. His knowledge and abilities to solve any issue was appreciated during his working career and many years after. He respected and was respected by all of his colleagues. He made many lifelong friends whom he spent time with after work and on weekends enjoying snowmobiling, attending stock car races, boating and fishing, bowling, trap shooting, golfing and camping. After retirement, Greg found a new passion in barbecuing. He loved experimenting with different flavors that he created for his variety of meats, making his own sauces and rubs. Those that were lucky to be on the receiving end of his cooking skills, got to enjoy some of the most mouth-watering chicken, ribs, brisket and sausage. He loved to share this passion with everyone he knew and met. He was the most generous and kind person that just wanted to help everyone. He was so deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Greg is survived by his wife, Sharon, daughters Alex (Joseph) Thompson, Evon (Christopher) Edgecomb, granddaughter Elle O. Thompson, mother Peggy Hudspeth, sister Brenda (Bob) Walsh and many extended family members. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
