Janice May Rungren

Janice May Rungren, 62 of St. Charles, MO. On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, Janice May Rungren (Martz), cherished wife and mother of two, passed away at the age of 62, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Janice was born to Gary Martz and Sandra Hampton (Mode) in Shelbyville, Illinois. She went to grade school in Findlay, Illinois, then moved to Windsor, Illinois where she attended high school. She enjoyed cheering on the cheerleading squad and playing third base and catcher on the softball team. After graduating in 1976, she went on to obtain her cosmetology license, becoming employed at Valerie’s Hair Affair in Charleston, Illinois, where she met the love of her life and husband of 37 years, Scott. Janice and Scott were married in May 1983. She would later go back to school to obtain her medical transcription certificate. After Janice and Scott moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1999, she became a dedicated employee of the Anderson Park District and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Janice loved to read, and was rarely without an encouraging word and a cup of coffee. She was a gifted storyteller, an avid bird watcher, and the proudest of grandmothers. Most importantly, she was a child of God. Janice was preceded in death by her father, Gary, her mother, Sandra, her son, Jason, her brother, Robert, her aunt Marlene Ledbetter (Mode), and her uncles Marvin Mode and Kenny Mode. Janice is survived by her husband, Scott, her daughter, Lisa (Raymond) Sheerer, her two granddaughters, Everlee and Cora Brady, her brothers, Les Martz, Shane Martz, Brian Martz, and Keith Hampton, her sisters Linda Broadwell (Hampton) and Starla Owens (Martz), her brother-in-law Ken (Kathy) Johns, her aunts Cheryl Marlow (Mode), Sharon Miner (Mode), and Betty Mode (England), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Janice was an incredibly sweet and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her 12-year battle against ovarian cancer was a testament to her character, perseverance, and dedication to her family. She will be greatly missed, but will forever be held in our hearts. Services: Archway Memorial Chapel, 111 Taylor Rd, Hazelwood, MO.
