Mary L. Oscko (nee Barnhart) 7/2/1959 – 2/20/2023 Wife of 42 years to Gerard S. Oscko. Mother of Melissa L. (Tim) Gass and Steven J. (Elizabeth) Oscko. Proud Nana to Evan, Henry, Grayson and Wesley. Sister to Glen Barnhart and Henry Barnhart. Aunt, cousin, niece and friend to many. Preceded in death by her parents Henry Barnhart and Lucille Barnhart (nee Schneider). Mary grew up a resident of St. Ann, MO and graduated from Ritenour High School in 1977. Despite having several jobs, it wasn’t until the age of 50 that Mary found her passion and went back to school for her Nursing degree. She loved to help others, loved working in hospitals and physically touching and helping those who were ill. Mary finished her studies and graduated in December 2013. She passed her NCLEX-RN exam and was so proud of the RN after her name. She earned it. Unfortunately, Mary never worked as a nurse because she was diagnosed with stage IV Lung Cancer at the time of her graduation. She would spend the next nine years fighting cancer. Nine years is a long time, but those years allowed Mary time to watch her family grow. One thing that kept her going was a new grandson every couple of years. She was a proud Nana who loved her four grandsons deeply. Mary was also able to make it to her son’s wedding and welcome a new daughter-in-law into the family. She was weak but battled through her pain and fatigue to be there. Through each step, Mary’s faith guided her. From the beginning of the battle, she would tell everyone, “I will meet you at the corner of Glory and Hallelujah.” With her faith in Christ, she knew she had that assurance. So now she celebrates. A memorial service will be held at Archway Memorial Chapel, located at 111 Taylor Road, Hazelwood, MO 63042, on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Memorial Gathering 2:00-3:30 P.M. Memorial Service 3:30-4:30 P.M. This will be followed by a meal for family and friends at, Simple Church St. Louis, located at 1020 Anglum Road, Hazelwood, MO 63042.
