Montora Elizabeth Bennett

Montora E. Bennett Age 71 of Dellwood, MO. Montora Elizabeth Bennett was born to Roy Armour and Margaret White, June 15, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the youngest of four children; both of her parents and brother Donald Armor preceded her in death. Montora attended St. Louis Public Schools and grew up on the Southside in a neighborhood referred to as “ The Hill”. In 1958 she was united in Holy Matrimony to her husband David Bennett who preceded her, and to this union seven children was born. Montora, commonly referred to, as “Money” was a cosmetologist and owned Eltora’s Beauty Salon. She was also a seamstress who worked for Bidwell Manufacturing for 33 years. Sister Bennett confessed her hope in Christ at an early age, always making reference of how good the Lord had blessed her; she remained faithful in her walk with Christ. Montora was faithful member at Christ Zion Towers, and Christ Zion Water Towers under the leadership of Reverend Samuel F. Rabun. In the early 80’s, Montora attended New Sunny Mount Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Donald Hunter. While there, she served as co-chairman of the singles group and the missionary board. She also attended Prayer Tabernacle under the leadership of Reverend Wendell L. Reese. Later in life, she united under the leadership of Dr. Charles M. Roach at Trinity Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Sister Bennett was respected, loved and a pillar of her family. She opened her home to any family member or friend that was in need. She enjoyed sewing, playing card games, cooking, and enjoying her social life. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend. She touched many lives and everyone had their own special relationship with her. She had a lot of wisdom and advice that she shared. Montora was the “life of the party” and even in her last months she humored everyone she encountered. She committed her last days to trusting in God and giving Him all of the glory. Montora was called home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2013. She was surrounded by those whom she loved the most, her family. She leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Bernetta Salonies, one brother-in-law, George Peterson, four children Diane McKay, Drucilla (Scott) Stewart, Mark Bennett, Nina Bennett; nine grandchildren: Yvatni (Erica), Julius, Monica, Dionne, Aigner, Marcus, Candice, Mark, Ra’Nyah; twelve great-grand children; and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
