Thomas Marion Gunn

On November 29th, 2025, Thomas Gunn, age 65, passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family at his home in St. Charles, Missouri. Tom was born on April 18, 1960, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was married to his loving wife, Carol, on October 3rd, 1987. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Ruth (Bishop) Gunn, and brother Terry. He is survived by his wife Carol, his son Jonathon (Robin), sister-in-law Julia, siblings Jim (Linda), Marsha (Robin), Dennis (Michelle), Melanie, and Curt (Jennifer), and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. After a variety of jobs, Tom attained his associate’s degree in electronic engineering at St. Louis Community College. Following this he had a 32-year career at AMS Controls — first building, then installing, and finally selling metal forming controllers and building lasting relationships with metalworking companies around the country. Tom was an avid tennis player, musician, and traveler. He played tennis several times weekly, born out of a love of ping pong shared by his entire family. He was also an accomplished musician, heavily involved in music ministry at many churches throughout his life. Among the variety of instruments he played, Tom first learned piano from his oldest brother Terry, who began teaching Tom at age 5. Tom later passed his gift along to others by teaching many students both professionally in studio and at home. In his free time, Tom loved traveling with his wife, with frequent trips to Florida, Mexico, Arizona, and anywhere sun and sand were plentiful. He was also an accomplished handyman, having renovated his entire home and adding an in-ground pool over the last 5 years. Visitation will be at The Sanctuary, 965 Anglum Road, Hazelwood, Missouri, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, December 8th, 2025 at 9 AM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 — also at The Sanctuary — beginning at 10:00 AM. Tom will be interred at the St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 W Clay St, St Charles, Missouri, immediately following the service.
