Timothy A. Dugas, Age 69, of Florissant, MO. A man of God and Loving husband of Deanna Dugas, Father of Matthew (Alisha) Dugas, Christina (Daniel) Powell, Christopher Dugas, Rachael (Josh) Gore, Michael Sullivan, and Daniel Sullivan; Papa to Ellora, Brayden, Macy, Liam, Henry, Hayden, Atlas and Ryker; Brother to David (Charleen); Dear Brother-in-Law, Family Member, Relative, Pastor and Friend to many. Timothy A. Dugas was born March 22, 1949, in Downey, California. On September 3, 2018, the man who led The Sanctuary United Pentecostal Church of Hazelwood first as pastor and then as bishop for over 30 years permanently changed his address to his new home in Heaven. In 1970 after graduating from Gateway College of Evangelism in Florissant with a degree in theology, Tim Dugas began his ministry as an assistant pastor in Kansas City. Almost immediately, Tim Dugas would begin his service in various appointed and elected offices within the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI). He began as a sectional youth leader in Missouri and was consistently entrusted with more and more responsibility within the organization, culminating with several years of service at the national level in both youth work and North American missions. During his time of service to the state of Missouri, Tim Dugas envisioned, created, and promoted March for Missions, a fundraising strategy to raise funds for missionaries in global fields of service. While this program began as a Missouri effort, it was soon adopted by the entire UPCI and still exists today. A strong proponent of Christian higher education, Tim Dugas served at Christian Life College in Stockton, CA, until the early 1980s, at which time he and his family moved back to the St. Louis area to eventually serve as pastor of a church then known as Florissant Valley Apostolic Church on Shackelford Road. Through countless building projects and renovations, Bishop Dugas led the church family to its new location on Anglum Road in Hazelwood and to its new mission as The Sanctuary. While still pastoring Florissant Valley Apostolic Church/The Sanctuary, Tim Dugas became the longest-serving president of Gateway College of Evangelism. While serving in this capacity, he launched the Jonathan Project in which seasoned ministers served as mentors to those who were just entering vocational ministry. In 2000, not content simply to rest and enjoy the fruits of his labor, Tim Dugas headed the committee to develop and establish Urshan Graduate School of Theology in Florissant, MO. It would be impossible to list the missions trips, compassionate service excursions, sermons preached, lives mentored, lessons taught, tens of thousands of dollars personally given, and the projects completed for which Timothy A. Dugas was responsible. The family of The Sanctuary will miss Bishop Dugas’ care, tenderness, and love for his flock. The silence of his voice will never change the fact that Tim Dugas’ lessons, both with words and through actions, will remain a source of inspiration to all those who knew him. He was courageous to the very end and fought a valiant fight. There is now a victorious homecoming where he will receive his reward.
